Certainly the martial arts physical and involve physical ability, but they are not sports, even if they have a sporting or competitive component. There is no age that you cap out at or can no longer train at.
Just look to all the old masters.
You start where you are in the martial arts with your physical ability and work from there building strength and flexibility.
You advance at your own pace and build on your own success.
In many ways starting the martial arts a bit later in life has some very positive points.
Often later in life when we have had a taste of success and failure in our lives, built and achieved at a few things, it is easier to plan and execute a plan for success.
Younger students sometimes have a bit more of a challenge mapping out and executing goals in life.
